And the sun was white, as though chidden of God,
And a few leaves lay on the starving sod,
—They had fallen from an ash, and were gray. Your eyes on me were as eyes that rove
Over tedious riddles solved years ago;

The smile on your mouth was the deadest thing

رنگ های بی اثر
ایستاده بودیم كنار استخری در آن روز زمستانی
و خورشید سفید بود انگار خدا ملامتش كرده باشد
برگی چند ریخته بر خاك گرسنه
خاكستری سقوط كرده از درختی زبان گنجشک
نگاهم می كردی و چشمانت سرگردان
بر رازهای فاش گشته ی ملال آور ِ سالها پیش
و كلماتی كه نقش بازی می كردند میانمان چپ و راست
و با آنها بیشترین ازدست شد به دستِ عشق ِ ما
و آن لبخند روی لبانت مرده ترین
تنها رمقی مانده بودش برای مردن
لبخندی كه به ریشخندی تبدیل می شد
چون پرنده ای بدشگون در حال پرواز
و بعد از آن، فرا آموختن درسی تلخ که عشق می فریبد،
و با غلط درمی آمیزد، تصویر می كرد برایم
صورتت را، و خورشیدِ نفرین ِ خدا دیده وُ
درختی و برکه ای کنج پوشیده با برگ های خاکسترفام
